Through out this project my idea started as a small thought in my head and now has grown into something so much bigger. My idea is a prescription or non prescription contact lens that changes tint depending on the brightness of the sun and also being polarized. After learning about everything in the lectures then formulating a way to incorporate it into my invention really enhanced my idea. Some topics in class that I would not really think much of to help my idea such as computer security, social media, and photoshop turned out to be extremely beneficial in adding to my idea.
Each topic enhanced my idea in a different way such as computer security. When running a business some factors that you have to think of is computer security because having a business means you have financial and personal files that need to stay confidential. To help keep that information safe, you can use different anti-virus programs and fire walls to reassure the security of the information. Some things you may want to keep confidential but one thing you want to do is get your name and idea out to the world. Using social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Blogger, are all good ways in getting your idea out there. At first I thought social media was more detrimental then beneficial but after learning more into depth about it, I learned that it is an extremely useful tool as long as you know how to use it safely.
Also, photoshop also plays an important role in developing my idea because it allows me to have a physical prototype of my idea. It is one thing to talk about my idea and persuade customers but its another thing to allow the customers to actually see what the product would be and look like. These are only a few things that I learned in class that helped to develop my idea over this period of time but another source that helped me with my invention was looking for similar products that are already out there. When I found that Nike had a contact lens coming out for athletes that actually increases the athletes vision and protected them from UV lighting. At first I thought this was going to completely ruine my idea but I turned it into a positive by seeing the similarities and differences with my idea and their idea. In the end it was extremely beneficial to see a product similar to mine be able to actually have certain features that can be put in a contact lens.
Lastly, another thing that helped me to expand my ideas about my project was going to the face to face meeting because I was able to hear pros and cons about my idea. Hearing the criticism allowed me to think of ways for my idea to overcome the things that could go wrong with it. When you create the idea, sometimes you do not think about the other side and listening to other students give you some things that could go wrong with it, opened my eyes on some problems and it only helped me make my idea stronger. Between the lectures, students comments, and analyzing other competitors, my idea has definitely grown since the first day I thought about it.
To allow my small idea became a reality I think somethings that would need to happen is to first, utilize social media and get the idea out to the world. Also, listen to the criticism to see what is wrong with the idea and then pursue it more by investing money into it. In my case, I believe that something like my invention could prosper in the real world but I would have to figure out how to actually do all the things to the contact lens to have it work. Since I know nothing about creating contact lenses, I could patent the idea and propose it to a contact lens company and see if they could work with the idea becoming a reality.

Lecture Post
My idea consist of having a polarized contact lens that can be prescription or regular that tints to how bright it is outside. Similar to the eye glasses that change from clear to dark, these contacts would do the exact same but you would not have to wear any sort of glasses. This contact would let people be outside and take away any chance of getting a sunglass tan. After being outside, you wouldn't need to change any sort of lens because the lens would automatically change. Additionally, the polarized part of the contact lens acts like a normal polarized pair of sunglasses would. Polarized lens's are a lot healthier for your eyes than normal sunglasses lens's and would make everything have a crisp image.
Some things that could enhance the safety of your business is by understanding computer safety. For example. administering an account on a computer for a business's computer "enables them to access all files and programs on the computer or network"(Operating Systems and Utility Programs). When you have all the programs and information on a computer it is imperative to have permissions, which specifically define who can acces one's computer. Having a log in which contains a username and password are necessities in logging onto someone's computer. The Username and Password are both combinations of letters,symbols, and numbers that are unique to the user. This only allows yourself to access the information on your computer as long as the password is kept to yourself.
Other things that you have to look out for and are crucial to keeping your computer secure is malware. Malware is a malicious software that "acts without a user's knowledge and deliberately alters the computers operations."This virus could be detrimental to the company and is the last thing that the company needs to worry about. Some ways in avoiding virus's are by utilizing firewalls. Firewalls are available to computers owners to protect personal computers from intruders. They monitor what everything that is running "to and from the computer" while the user is using it or while it not in use. The last thing that anybody wants is to have a hacker which is someone who intentionally tries to intrude on a computer or netwok illegally. Their intentions are to either steel information or to create virus's. A virus is something that has the capability to damage or destroy a computer or network. It has the potential, once in the system, to spread through out multiple files and the operating system with intentions to create havoc for the user. Having the most recommended programs for computer security will help decrease the ability for hackers to disrupt a companies network system or personal computers.
To conclude, computer security is extremely serious because having a business and keeping important financial documents and other information can be easily accessible to intruders, and if you do not take the necessary precautions to stopping it, all the information could be stolen. To add on to specific programs to help increase security, internet filters are another way to protect your computer. A filter is a program that removes and blocks items from being displayed. Some filters that one could use are web filters and phishing filters. A web filter has the ability to restrict acces to dangerous material on websites that may have the capabilities to damage your computer. Phishing filters are a program that warns a user from "potentially fraudulent or suspicious Web sites". This becomes useful when you have scams in which intruders try to obtain personal and financial information. Although there is a huge problem with computer security, there is still ways in protecting one's self from these perpetrators and taking these precautions will only benefit people such as myself to enhance the safety of my computer.

Malware is a malicious software that "acts without a user's knowledge and deliberately alters the computers operations."This virus could be detrimental to the company and is the last thing that the company needs to worry about. To prevent the viruses, there are many antivirus programs to protect the computer from the viruses by identifying them and removing them. Some commonly known ones are McAfee and Norton Antivirus.
Continuing on the safety of the computer, some other programs that could really hurt the company would be spyware. Spyware is used by hackers to secretly collect information about the user by focussing on web browsing habits. What's really bad about this is that you could have no idea that this is occurring and someone could be reading about all the information about your product/company that is secretive such as new ideas and prototypes. Similar to Spyware, there is a program called Adware that mocks different advertisements in pop-ups and banners that can give your computer a virus just by clicking on them. To ensure the safety of my companies computers and information, I could utilize spyware and adware remover, which deletes spyware and other similar programs.
Some ways that I could prevent any of these viruses from happening is by taking precautions such as internet and web filters which remove or block certain things being displayed and restricts access to certain material on the web. Also on the web, there are other ways that hackers could disrupt computers which is by phishing. Phishing is a scam that hackers access personal and financial information about, in my case, my company. To prevent that I would use a filter for phishing which warns or blocks me from fraudulent or suspicious websites. For example, on my computer, if you were to google search something and it has you link to another website that could be hazardous, the computer will have a pop up that warns me before going into the site.

Blogger Review

The blog above is a post made by Scott Rutt who is a professional blogger who has gone over the stocks of Zynga, a social gaming company whose had a substantial loss in their stocks. In a previous post, he describes why Zynga is a bad stock to put your money towards and he re ups his personal opinion with a recent news article stating the gaming companies recent drop in it's shares. Rutt's post made it onto the main website of technorati.com which provides posts by well known bloggers in the field of technology.
The main reason for this post is to allow people to realize how Zynga, a very well known company, is slowly getting worse and worse. The Zynga shares in stocks "opened down another 20% at a new all time low"(Rutt 2012). Before this article came out, Rutt had almost preached in his previous post, "Don't Gamble on Zynga's Gambling Gamble", about how Zynga is likely to collapse. The new results show that the company has "a loss of 12 to 14 cents a share for it's upcoming third quarter..."(Rutt 2012).Rutt's opinion on the matter is that Zynga is way to risky of a stock and does not advise put money towards it and with this news, it provides textual evidence that he was right.
In my opinion, I believe that the way Scott Rutt makes his posts is very clever because he is very good at balancing his own opinion with facts to back it up. Although a blog is strongly opinionated, he is able to bring up evidence from other sources to really allow the reader to see how his thoughts were right. Also, the post is not to long, it is short sweet and to the point. Lastly, at the end of his post he mildly brings up another topic that could easily turn into his next post. He says in his last sentence, " makes me wonder just how well Facebook is really fairing, as 10% of Facebook's revenues stem from fees paid by Zynga". Here he cleverly introduces a new subject matter to predict what may happen next from the downfall of one company down to another.

Also, it has instant elasticity, in other words, it allows a company to instantly expand or contract the amount of storage needed.
